What’s a “margot”?

“Margot” is a term commonly used by local French speakers when referring to northern gannets, a graceful seabird.

The first people to settle on Rang Thivierge were given this nickname by the people of Bonaventure who thought it quite comical to see those “odd ducks” swoop down to the seashore village and then back up to their homesteads on the Thivierge concession road, about 150 feet above sea level.

It was in honour of those brave and hardy pioneers and to salute the connection between land and sea that we chose our company’s name.
